In January 2010, Tiger was seized from his home in Milton Keynes as being of the type known as the Pit Bull Terrier.
Dr Mugford was instructed to carry out a breed assessment of Tiger, during which he concluded that although he was not of the breed, Tiger did conform to the "type" Pit Bull Terrier. A report was submitted to the Magistrates, in which Dr Mugford recommended Tiger be returned to his owner on the Index of Exempted Dogs, as he was a friendly dog who need not pose any danger to the public.
Following a hearing in July, the Magistrates accepted Dr Mugford's evidence and Tiger was returned to his overjoyed owner 2 weeks later.
